Labial Reduction Surgery

With sexual maturity and following childbirth, it is not uncommon for women’s labia to be either different sizes, or larger than normal, causing problems with sport, clothes and sexual relations. Labial reduction surgery can reduce the size of the labia and improve these problems.

The operation generally takes place under Local (awake) Anaesthetic – although it is possible for ladies to request to be asleep – and is performed as a day case or outpatient procedure. The labia are reduced in size and stitched with dissolving sutures. Common problems include swelling and pain, but these usually settle after 24-48 hours. You will be asked to wear loose fitting skirts for a week or so after the operation and to return after a week for review.

As a rule, patients are very happy with this procedure and the satisfaction rate is very high.
