Neck Lift

A Neck Lift is the procedure to tighten and re-shape the neck. Sagging is a feature of the ageing neck, as are bands or folds of skin travelling from the jaw down the neck.

Because the incisions are very similar, a Neck Lift is often carried out in conjunction with a Face Lift, aiming to tighten the neck skin and smooth it out. For information on the incisions and procedures, please see the Face Lift page

The vertical wrinkles in the ageing neck are caused by the Platysma muscle, which can be addressed in a number of ways. The commonest is by releasing them during a Face Lift procedure and pulling the skin tighter against the neck.

Fullness beneath the chin, in the form of a loose fold of skin and fat, is not directly addressed by a standard facelift. It can, however, be improved by either liposuction to the area or by suturing the bands of together to smooth the contour of the neck. It is very common to have this performed as an adjunct to a face/neck lift.
